General Purpose of the Job: Undertake repair and maintenance tasks related to equipment in the shop area and other machinery in and around the yard. This role serves as the entry-level position in the Fleet Mechanic series, encompassing routine tasks and duties. Individuals may have limited or non-directly related work experience, working under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Individual Accountabilities:

  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on Ready Mix Trucks, front-end loaders, roll-offs, and other on-site vehicles to enhance safe and productive operations.
  • Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary components and related parts, such as valves, hoses, belts, and alternators.
  • Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems; tune engines using standard testing equipment.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, including lubrication and oil changes.
  • Fabricate and weld for equipment repair as required.
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles and parts.
  • Clean and maintain the garage area and equipment.
  • Conduct road tests on vehicles to troubleshoot problems and test repairs for proper and safe completion.
  • Respond to emergency road calls for repairs on trucks that break down during delivery routes.
  • Read and interpret VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders; communicate with supervisors and/or drivers for clarification of problems.
  • Discuss preventive techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on engines, chassis and body components, brake systems, suspension systems, wheels, and tires.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance and repair work performed, tracking recalls, inspection dates, and warranties for all vehicles.
  • Must possess personal hand tools.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Technical Knowledge and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid Class B California driver’s license with airbrake endorsement.
  • Preferred 1 year of experience with fleet light/medium/heavy-duty trucks.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronic/computerized diagnostic software is a must.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ensure the quality of work meets the highest standards.

Area of Experience:

  • Preferred experience with SAP.
  • Proficiency with Excel and demonstrated knowledge of computer usage.

  • English C2: Native – Advanced

Compensation:

  • $22-$34 Per Hour
